UNOCI Holds Memorial Service for Nigerien Blue Helmets

At a memorial ceremony in Abidjan, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Bert Koenders (left), pays tribute to seven Nigerien peacekeepers killed in the line of duty. The troops had been on patrol in southwest Côte d'Ivoire on 8 June when their unit came under attack by unidentified armed elements.
