UNSG Panel on Referenda Visits Polling Centres in South Sudan

Benjamin Mkapa (left, back to camera), former President of Tanzania and Chair of the UN Secretary-General's Panel on the Referenda in Sudan, observes the process for voting in the Southern Sudan referendum at a polling station in North Bari, near Juba, the South's capital, on the first day of balloting. Mr. Mkapa and the rest of the Panel visited a number of polling centres in and around Juba for similar observation.
