President of Government of Southern Sudan Registers for Referendum

A staff member (right) at a referendum registration centre in Juba, Sudan, registers Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President of the Republic of the Sudan and President of the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS), at site for GOSS employees. Registration is scheduled to take place between 15 November and 1 December, in time for the 9 January 2011 referendum which will determine the independence of South Sudan.
