Indonesian Battalion Serves in Egypt with UNEF

An Indonesian battalion on 603 officers and men has begun services with the UNEF in Egypt. After an advance party reached Egypt earlier this month, the main contingent arrived at Abu Suweir between 12 and 16 January. The battalion is now stationed at Shandur camp, south of the Great Bitter Lake and about 15 miles north of the city of Suez. This photo shows some of the Indonesians having a marching drill at Shandur camp.
