Internally Displaced South Sudanese Return Home

Eighty-four South Sudanese internally displaced persons recently returned from the nation's capital to their home town of Yuai. Predominantly women and children, they had sought shelter and protection from violence and unrest in the Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites located in Juba.
Since a peace agreement was signed last September, more than 27,000 people have left protection sites located next to UN bases around the country. Another 3,000 people have also recently expressed a desire to go home. The returns process is a major logistical exercise involving the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and humanitarian partners, including the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the lead agency.
