UN Panel on Sudan Referenda Meets NGOs in Southern Sudan
The three-member UN Secretary-General's Panel on the Referenda in Sudan meets with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Juba, Southern Sudan. The Panel is on a week-long visit in the region to monitor preparations for the upcoming January 2011 referenda. The members, seated from left: António Monteiro, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Portugal; Benjamin Mkapa, Chair of the Panel and former President of the United Republic of Tanzania; and Bhoj Raj Pokharel, former Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal.
