Training of Teachers at the Faculty of Education of the University of Libya, Tripoli
Since 1960 UNESCO has been assisting the Government of Libya with its programme to train staff at the Faculty of Education of the University of Libya. To further train staff at the Faculty and to conduct educational research, UNESCO is serving as Participating and Executing Agency of UNDP second phase project which will continue and reinforce the present programme of the Faculty of Education with special emphasis given to the study and teaching of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geography, and home economics. Project activities will consist of: Preparing in detail undergraduate curricula for the pre-service and in-service training of preparatory and secondary school teachers; Courses to upgrade experienced teachers; Special courses for the graduates of the faculties of arts, sciences; agriculture and engineering to qualify them as teachers in the preparatory schools; In-service courses for school administrators, inspectors, librarians and officials of the Ministry of Education; Establishing a resource for educational material and audio-visual aids production; and Educational research.
