Farming for Development: Rice Cultivation in Thailand

Young farmers of northern Thailand threshing rice. Rice is the country?s staple food crop and its largest single export product accounting for 19% of foreign exchange earnings. With help from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) the Government has undertaken a project to improve rice production in an area of about 2.5 million acres in northern part of the country.
