UNMIT Prepares for Village Elections in Timor-Leste

Joanico Correia of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) secures ballot boxes to be flown to remote areas for the 9 October 2009 second national village (suco) elections to be held simultaneously in 442 sucos across the country. Candidates are vying for positions as village chiefs and members of village councils for the first time since the first round of village elections in 2004 and 2005.
