Training Pakistani in the Use of Heavy Earth-moving Equipment

ILO technical assistance expert E.A. McDonald (United Kingdom) went to Pakistan to help the Government of Sind in the Training of operators and maintenance mechanics for heavy earth-moving equipment at a training centre set up near Hyderabad. Theoretical classes and workshop exercises are held at the Centre, on-the-job field training is given on the site of the Kotri dam, now under construction. Mr. McDonald has 26 pupils in the school, and 21 in the field.
This picture, taken at the Kotri dam site, shows some of the trainees learning to handle heavy earth-moving machines – D8 caterpillars, tractors with 18-yard buckets and pushloaders.
