Secretary-General Receives "Gold Medal of Honor" of New York City

12 March 1965

Secretary-General U Thant was awarded the ""Gold Medal of Honor"" by the City of New York. At a brief ceremony in the Secretary-General's office, Ambassador Richard C. Patterson, Jr., Chief of Protocol and Commissioner of the Department of Public Events of the of the City of New York, presented the City's highest award to U Thant, on behalf of Mayor Robert F. Wagner.
