UNCTAD Holds Third Session in Santiago

The third session of the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) opened in Santiago, Chile, on 13 April. The session, which is being attended by about 3,000 representatives from 141 countries, unanimously elected Clodomiro Almeyda, Minister for External Affairs of Chile, as President.
Raúl Prebisch, Director-General of the Latin American Institute for Economic and Social Planning, is seen making a statement at this afternoon's meeting.
