Secretary-General Visits Berne and Geneva

The Secretary-General, U Thant, left New York on 24 April for a visit to Berne and Geneva. While in Geneva, U Thant conferred with his Special Representative to the Middle East, Gunnar V. Jarring, who has been attending to his duties as the Swedish Ambassador in Moscow. Also, in Geneva, U Thant addressed the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) on 28 April, and the Sixth Congress of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on 29 April. In Berne, the Secretary-General presided over meetings of the Administrative Committee on Coordination (ACC) on 26 and 27 April. He also called on the President of the Swiss Confederation, Rudolf Gnagi, at the Palais Federal, and on the Chief of the Political Department, Paul Graber.
