President of U.N. Sixth General Assembly in His Office
Dr. Luis Padilla Nervo, elected President of the U.N. Sixth General Assembly, is the Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations.
Born in 1898, Dr. Padilla Nervo studied law and economics in Mexico, Washington D.C., Buenos Aires and London. He joined his country's diplomatic corps and attained the rank of ambassador in 1945. He has worked closely with United Nations Affairs since the San Francisco Conference of 1945 where he was adviser to the Mexican delegation and became chairman of the delegation in 1947.
