Trusteeship Council Opens Ninth Session

The Trusteeship Council opened its ninth regular session at Flushing Meadow on 5 June 1951. This picture shows Prince Wan Waithayakon (left), delegate of Thailand, and Mr. Francis B. Sayre, delegate of the United States. The Trusteeship Council consist of: The members of the United Nations administering trust territories; the permanent members of the Security Council which do not administer trust territories; and as many other members elected for three-year terms of office by the General Assembly as will ensure that membership in the Council is equally divided between Members which administer trust territories and members which do not.
