Eleanor Roosevelt Presents Madame Pandit with a Gavel

On the occasion of the celebration of United Nations Day, Eleanor Roosevelt (left), member of the United States delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, presents a gavel to Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, Chairman of the delegation of India and President of the current session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Mrs. Roosevelt, who was presenting the gavel in the name of WE THE PEOPLE, told Madame Pandit: ""We hope that you will use it and that in the future it will remind you of the services that you have rendered and of the gratitude which We The People feel for all you are doing for us and for the world.""
