General Assembly
Political Committee Opens Debate on Korea Political Conference Arrangements
Settlement became immediately evident yesterday as the General Assembly's Political Committee began its debate on arrangements for the conference.
This picture shows Mr. Andrei Y. Vyshinsky (second from right, foreground table), of the U.S.S.R., addressing the Committee. In explaining Soviet views on participation in the conference, Mr. Vyshinsky urged that the coming peace talks be a "round table" discussion, declaring "it would, in our opinion, be erroneous to regard the conference as being composed of representatives of two sides."
On Mr. Vyshinsky's left are Mr. Selwyn Lloyd, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom and Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the U.N.
