Waiting for Food from UNICEF

An Arab girl and her baby brother wait shyly for their daily ration of food and milk from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). They number among the hundreds of needy children and mothers herded into a refugee camp at Aqaba, Palestine. UNICEF is sending food rations and milk to about 800,000 Arab and Jewish refugees in stricken areas. UNICEF-aided malaria and anti-tuberculosis campaigns are underway. Red Cross Societies, the Quakers and local volunteers join in distributing this much-needed aid.. [1948/49].
