Work in Progress on Site for New UN International School

Foundation work in progress on the site of the new United Nations International School by the East River in New York City. The site projects into the East River at the end of 25th street and has been leased from the City of New York for 99 years at a cost of a dollar a year.
Eleven-and-one half million dollars from the Ford Foundation will cover the cost of construction and purchase the equipment for the school. The Rockefeller family has contributed one million dollars for the site fill and the foundation structure. The building will be a six story structure designed with many cantilevers. It will have a separate auditorium and will act as a community centre as well as an academic institution, providing facilities for kindergarten through the twelfth year.
