Second UN International Atomic Energy Conference

The Second United Nations International Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy is now in progress (Sept. 1-13) at the Palais des Nations, Geneva. Some 5,000 prominent scientists and observers from 69 countries and 9 UN Specialized Agencies are participating in this Conference to pool the latest knowledge on the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
Today the Conference continued its discussion of controlled fusion devices. Dr. M. Sawada, of Japan, is seen here studying a document, on his way to attend one of the meetings today.
