Local Handicraft Development

By encouraging the development of local crafts, the Government of El Salvador is helping to make it possible for villagers to earn a good income in their own communities and to stem the exodus to the already crowded cities. With the help of an expert from the International Labour Organization (ILO), handicraft co-operatives are being set up and developed. The first of these was a ceramics co-operatives at Ilobasco which produces articles for local and national use and for export.
