Yugoslav Soldiers of UNEF at Desert Outposts
Since the winter of 1956, UNEF (UN Emergency Force) soldiers from eight countries have guarded the Egypt-Israel Armistice Demarcation Line and the long international frontier of the Sinai Peninsula. Yugoslav and Canadian contingents cover this international frontier to the south, manning fixed desert outposts or using scout cars, jeeps, ad light planes to patrol the uninhabited area.
Here, a Yugoslav soldier is seen going on duty at the Yugoslav camp at El Kuntilla. The water facilities and pump are on the right. [Exact date unknown]
