Salt Production in the Philippines
The Philippines, with technical advice from the United Nations, is on the way to becoming self-sufficient in production of industrial and household salt. Operations will begin about a year from now at the newly-established salt farm, Pacific Farms, Inc. in Northern Luzon. Whereas the Philippines has been importing 30,000 tons of its annual consumption of 150,000 tons of salt, the output of Pacific Farms is expected to cover a large part of this, the remainder to be taken care of by small salt farms around the country.
