General Debate Begins at UN Conference on Trade and Development
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development began its general debate in Geneva today with an opening statement by Raul Prebisch, Secretary-General of the Conference. Some 1,500 delegates and observers are attending the Conference which has been called to consider problems involved in the expansion of international trade as a dynamic force in economic and social progress throughout the world, and to take practical steps to meet the special needs of the developing nations.
