General Assembly Admits Georgia as 179th Member of UN

The General Assembly today admitted Georgia, formerly of the Soviet Union, to United Nations membership. Georgia becomes the 179th Member State to join the United Nations.
Alexander Chikvaidze, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Georgia, addresses the General Assembly after the General Assembly admitted Georgia to United Nations membership.
