United Nations Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali opened the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) - or Earth Summit - on 3 June 1992.
Maurice Strong (right) promotes ""Our Country, the Planet"" during a special briefing by Sir Shridath Rampal, author of the book (left). The focus of the briefing was "Rio and the Future of Our Convention, the Planet". Mr. Strong, who serves as Secretary-General of UNCED, also presided as Secretary-General of the Environmental Conference at Stockholm, 5-16 June 1972.
