Meeting of the Special Committee against Apartheid
The Special Committee against Apartheid held its first meeting of 1992. Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali said that courageous steps had been taken in South Africa in the past two years, among them, the launching of the Convention for a Democratic South Africa. It was now possible to envision a new society -- one which respected human rights; did not discriminate on grounds of colour, sex, political affiliation or creed; and in which all shared economic wealth and opportunity.
