Commemoration of Fortieth Anniversary of United Nations

21 October 1985

Numerous Heads of State or Government and Special Envoys are participating in the present session of the General Assembly in commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the Organization. A solemn ceremony will be held on 24 October -- UN Day -- the day on which the Charter came into force. It will be addressed by Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar and General Assembly President Don Jaime de Pinies (Spain).
