North American Regional Conference against Apartheid

The North American Regional Conference against Apartheid, organized by the Special Committee against Apartheid, opened at UN Headquarters on 18 June. The four-day Conference will review the situation in South Africa and in southern Africa as a whole, in relation to the policies and actions of the United States and Canada with regard to the struggle for liberation in South Africa. Among those who are participating in the Conference are Senator Edward Kennedy of USA; Rev. Jesse Jackson, USA presidential candidate; and Mayor Andrew Young of Atlanta, former USA Ambassador to the UN.
