Ad Hoc Committee of the 11th Special Session
The Ad Hoc Committee of the eleventh special session met for the first time 27 August to elect officers and set up two working groups to deal with the two major matters now before the General Assembly – a new international development strategy for the 1980s and a new round of global negotiations on economic issues. Michel Dupuy (Canada) was elected Chairman. The Committee elected as Vice-Chairmen Niaz A. Naik (Pakistan), Bogdan Crnobrnja (Yugoslavia), and Jorge Enrique Illueca (Panama). Ali Hachani (Tunisia) was elected Rapporteur. Mr. Naik was designated Chairman of Woking Group I on the strategy and Mr. Crnobrnja was made Chairman of Working Group II on the global negotiations. The Ad Hoc Committee is a committee of the whole membership of the Assembly.
