Japan Accedes to Convention on Refugees

Japan today acceded to the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. The Convention establishes minimum rights for persons who became refugees as a result of events occurring before 1 January 1951, including the right to asylum, work, education, public relief, and freedom of religion.
