Special Committee on Decolonization Hears Statements on East Timor

The Special Committee on Decolonization, at its meeting on the morning of 13 August, took up the question of East Timor hearing statements by the representatives of Portugal, the administering power, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Indonesia. The Committee also granted a request for a hearing by representative of the Revolutionary Front for the Independence of East Timor (Fretilin). The representative of Indonesia expressed his opposition to consideration of the question of East Timor by the Committee, as well as inviting the representative of the representative of Fretilin to make a statement.
