Secretary-General Arrives in Nicosia

Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim arrived on Sunday, 25 August, for a brief visit to Cyprus, at the British sovereign base in Akrotiri, where he was met by his Special Representative, Luis Weckmann-Munoz; the Commander of the UN Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Major-General D. Prem Chand; and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Sadruddin Agha Khan. The Secretary-General was accompanied by the Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs, Brian Urquhart; the Head of the Secretariat of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, Anton Prohaska; the Spokesman for the Secretary-General, Andre Lewin; and the Personal Assistant to the Secretary-General, Donald Thomas.
