United Nations International School

The United Nations International School (UNIS) is an independent day school, including kindergarten through grade 12, founded in 1947 by members of the United Nations to provide an education for their children in accordance with the ideals expressed in the United Nations Charter, and to prepare them for entrance to universities throughout the world. Enrolment during the 1976/77 school year totalled a record of 1,480 pupils of 103 nationalities, principally from Secretariat and delegation families.
