International Women's Day, 1977

A panel discussion on "A Sense of Balance" sponsored by the Ad Hoc Group on Equal Rights for Women was held at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 8 March 1977 to celebrate the International Women's Day 1977. Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim addressed the staff at a special meeting. Bella Abzug, lawyer; Shirley Hazzard, author; Nira Harden Long, lawyer; Margaret Mead, anthropologist; Rose Marie Muraro, author; and Barbara Hartey Schlachter, priest; were among the participants at today's panel discussion which was moderated by Claire de Hedervary.
