Assembly Requests Atomic Radiation Committee to Continue Work; Begins Discussion of Report of Committee of 24
The General Assembly, at its meeting this afternoon, agreed without objection to request the U.N. Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation to continue its work and to report again to the Assembly in two years. A proposal to that effect had been recommended by the Special Political Committee. The Assembly also began a discussion of the report of the Special Committee of 24 on decolonization with statements by the representative of the United Republic of Tanzania as Chairman of that Committee and by the representatives of Mauritius, Liberia and Zambia.
