Celebration of United Nations Day 1966

Madame M.S. Subbulakshmi, one of India?s most eminent musicians, gave a recital of Indian songs today in the General Assembly Hall, as part of a 1966 United Nations Day (24 October) celebrations. Accompanying Madame Subbulakshmi during the recital was a group of five other noted musicians.
At the reception held after the recital are: Mme. Subbulakshmi (second from right, front row); Secretary-General U Thant (centre); Abdul Rahman Pazhwak (Afgahanistan), President of the 21st session of the General Assembly (third from left, second row); G. Parthasarathi (India), Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN (second from right, second row); and C.V. Narasimhan, Under-Secretary for General Assembly Affairs and Chef de cabinet (right, second row).
