Assembly Appoints U Thant for Further Term as Secretary-General

2 December 1966

The General Assembly this afternoon appointed U Thant for a further term as Secretary-General, ending 31 December 1971. The decision was taken in unanimously adopting a resolution sponsored by Uruguay (this month?s President of the Security Council).
The Assembly applauding as Secretary-General U Thant entered the Assembly Hall following his appointment.
