Secretary-General Pays Official Visits to Five Asian Countries

At the invitation of the respective Governments, the Secretary-General, U Thant, paid official visits to Ceylon, India, Nepal, Afghanistan and Pakistan during April, where he held talks with the leaders of these Governments on matters of mutual interest. The Secretary-General had an audience with His Majesty King Mahendra at the Royal Palace which was followed by a reception given by the King, and attended by cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and United Nations officials. These guests also attended a banquet given by Shri Kirti Nidhi Bista, Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, that evening in the State Hall at Singha Durbar.
