Twentieth Regular Session of General Assembly Opens

21 September 1965

The twentieth regular session of the General Assembly opened at United Nations Headquarters and elected Amintore Fanfani of Italy as its President.
The new President, Amintore Fanfani (centre), is seen addressing the Assembly. With him at the presidential rostrum are: Secretary-General U Thant (left); and C.V. Narasimhan, UN Under-Secretary for Assembly Affairs and Chef de Cabinet.
