Dag Hammarskjöld Memorial Stamp Issued by Congo (Leopoldville)

Prime Minister Cyrille Adoula, of the Congo (Leopoldville) presided over a ceremony marking the issuance of the Congo's "Dag Hammarskjöld memorial stamp" at the central post office here earlier today. The stamps are being issued in eight denominations ranging from the equivalent of one-fifth of one U.S. cents, at the official rate of exchange, to the equivalent of 16 U.S. cents. They show Mr. Hammarskjöld looking at a map of Africa with the Congo in relief. Underneath is inscribed "Republique du Congo homage a Dag Hammarskjöld".
Seen here addressing the gathering at the ceremony is Prime Minister Adoula (standing). Seated are (l. to r.) Mr. Jason Sendwe, Vice-Premier of the Congo (Leopoldville); Dr. Sture Linner, Officer-in-Charge of U.N. Operations in the Congo; Mr. Ferdinand Mungamba, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of the Congo, who devised the theme of the stamp as a symbol of the late Secretary-General's concern for the Congo; and Mr. Nestore Landu, Director of the Post Office.
