Ceremony Marks Issuance of Dag Hammarskjöld Memorial Stamp

Dr. Sture Linner (2nd from right), Officer-in-Charge of United Nations Operations in the Congo, making cancellations of First Day issues of the "Dag Hammarskjöld memorial stamp" at a ceremony held here earlier today to mark issuance of the stamp by the Congo (Leopoldville). Among those looking on are Prime Minister Cyrille Adoula (2nd from left) and Mr. Ferdinand Mungamba (r.), Minister of Post and Telecommunications of the Congo, who devised the theme of the stamp as a symbol of the late Secretary-General's concern for the Congo.
The stamps, which show Mr. Hammarskjölld looking at a map of Africa with the
Congo in relief, are being issued in eight denominations, ranging from the equivalent of one-fifth of US$0.01 to the equivalent of US$0.16, and bear the inscription "Republique du Congo hommage a Dag Hammarskjöld".
