United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus
Members of the Canadian contingent serving with the United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), are seen as they prepared to take over their responsibilities in the Trachonas and Kyrenia areas.
The United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus was established by action of the UN Security Council to help prevent a recurrence of hostilities in the Republic of Cyprus. The Force will be stationed in the country, under the terms of the Security Council resolution, for a period of three months and will be composed of contingents from Canada, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
