Signing of the Final Act as Adopted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

Member countries which participated in the United Nations Conference on Trade and development began signing the Final Act as adopted by the Conference this afternoon at 3 p.m. Signatures will be accepted through 25 June. Under the Final Act the Conference would recommend to the General Assembly the establishment of a Trade Conference as an organ of the Assembly. The Conference would be convened at intervals of not more than three years, its first meeting to be held in 1966. Also proposed was the Trade and Development Board which would consist of 55 members elected by the Conference. In addition, the Conference on Trade and development approved general and special principles governing relations and policies, and principles on the transit rights of land-locked countries, and adopted recommendations relating to international commodity arrangements and preferences.
