Pakistan Trains Technicians in Jute Industry

The Government of Pakistan is reorganizing its Textile Institute to train supervisory technical personnel to staff industries with the help of experts from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Special Fund. An ILO expert in jute productivity advises the jute technology section of the Textile Institute and helps to train instructors for the institute and for industry.

Porters unloading "pucca" bales (better quality jute) from sampans to take to the Zareen Baling Company. The company compresses the jute, producing some 800,000 bales annually, of which 700,000 bales are exported.
