General Assembly Hears Two Final Speakers in General Debate

The General Assembly this afternoon heard the two final speakers listed for the general debate, the representatives of Afghanistan and of the United States. In all, 94 delegations took part in the debate of this session. The Assembly also heard statements under the right of reply by the representative of Mali, Morocco, Pakistan and Turkey. Still listed to speak under the right of reply are representatives of India, Algeria, Morocco and Cyprus. At this afternoon's meeting, the Secretary-General, U Thant, informed the Assembly of the death today of the Prime Minister of Iran, Hassan Ali Mansour. The Assembly rose for a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of Mr. Ali Mansour. Tributes to the Prime Minister were paid by the President of the Assembly, the Secretary-General, and the representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan, the United States and Turkey.
