Secretary-General Gives Luncheon for Edgar Jean Faure

A luncheon was given today by Secretary-General U Thant in honour of Edgar Jean Faure, who is one of the guest speakers in a series of lectures at the UN to mark International Cooperation Year 1965 (ICY). Mr. Faure, who will speak this evening, is a former Prime Minister of France, lawyer and author, and is at present Senator of the Republic and Professor of Law at the University of Dijon. The luncheon was held in the Secretary-General's private dining room.
At the head of the table is Mr. Jose Rolz-Bennett, Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs. To his left are: Mr. Phillippe De Seynes, UN Under-Secretary for Economic and Social Affairs; Ambassador Adlai E. Stevenson of the United States; Mr. Faure; Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy; Mr. Alex Quaison-Sackey, President of the General Assembly; Ambassador Roger Seydoux of France; Mr. C.A. Stavropoulos, UN Legal Counsel. To Mr. Rolz-Bennett's right are: Mr. David Owen, Executive Chairman of the UN Technical Assistance Board, and Mr. Arthur Dean, former member of the United States Delegation to the Disarmament Conference.
