UNCURK Members Observe Korean Local Elections Preparations
Members of the US Commission for the Unification & Rehabilitation of Korea (UNCURK) left Pusan on 10 April to observe preparations for the local elections to be held in the near future In the Republic of Korea. Here, on a street corner of Taejon's market place, standing among the Koreans, they listen to Dr. Pak Jae Bok, an ex-refugee from North Korea running for office, addressing the crowd. A North Korean refugee becomes eligible not only to vote but also to stand for election after having been resident of a district for four months or more.
