Local Elections in Korea

1 April 1952

Country-wide local elections were held on 25 April in the Republic of Korea. They were the first elections to take place throughout the country since the National Assembly poll held in May 1948 under the auspices of the UN Temporary Commission on Korea. This picture taken in Tonghay, near Pusan, shows people waiting to cast their vote to elect their village Council.
