Tool Production in Korea
The fighting left small industry in South Korea with ruined plants and no capital for reconstruction. The United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA) attacked the problem in two ways: by making machinery, semi-finished materials and construction items available to small businessmen, and by establishing a production loan fund to assist in rebuilding and modernizing small factories. Some $300,000 was allocated to aid 12 farm-tool producers, and other farm-tool plants were aided under this loan and one of HW 46 million to machine producers generally.
